PHEONIX BEGINNER’S GUIDE

13 / 04 / 20

Phenoix’s star power shines through in his fighting style, igniting the battlefield with flash and flare. Whether he’s got a backup or not, he’s rushing in to fight on his own terms.

SIGNATURE ABILITY: HOT HANDS

EQUIP a fireball. FIRE to throw a fireball that explodes after a set amount of time or upon hitting the ground, creating a lingering fire zone that damages enemies

This ability work like just about every incent in the game. You can deny an area but has an added benefit where if Phenoix stands in it – he regenerates health. Keep in mind that health regeneration stops if you take damage. You can’t heal through the enemy attacking you. It’s something that you have to apply outside of combat.

BLAZE

EQUIP a flame wall. FIRE to create a line of flame that moves forward, creating a wall of fire that blocks vision and damages players passing through it. HOLD FIRE to bend the wall in the direction of your crosshair

You can put up a wall that blocks line of sight. However, it doesn’t block as much as other abilities do, but again this ability also heals Pheonix – giving him two ways to heal himself. Just like Jett, Phenoix can control his vision obscuring ability as he throws it out. It’s different than Jett; she holds on to the ability button whereas Pheonix need to hold down the fire button after he presses it. You can apply a curve to the wall to help place a path for you and get the wall exactly where you want it. Remember that like all duelist the vision obscuring abilities don’t last very long so you will want to get good use out of it.

CURVEBALL

EQUIP a flare orb that takes a curving path and detonates shortly after throwing. FIRE to curve the flare orb to the left, detonating and blinding any player who sees the orb. ALTERNATE FIRE to curve the flare orb to the right

Curveball has a flashbang effect, and it has quite the awkward throw trajectory until you get used to it. If you used to flashes in Counter Strike, you have to forget what you know to get good at these. The secret tip is that they always go on the set trajectory. You can curve them to the left or right, but they don’t really bounce so your Curveball needs to be used from safety around the cover. It’s possible to flash it above boxes and above cover but remember – you want to aim it so that the explosion is in line of sight of the enemy. The Curveball will not affect you if the line of sight is broken by a vision obscuring ability. You can use your own blazed wall to toss a curve ball on the other side of it. You can set up the wall, run next to it, toss the curve ball on the other side then immediately peek out afterward. With cover you typically can’t do that because it’s in your way. Enemies that are flashed will have bright whites over their eyes, so you know if they can see you or not.

ULTIMATE: RUN IT BACK

INSTANTLY place a marker at Pheonix’s location. While this ability is active, dying or allowing the timer to expire will end this ability and bring Pheonix back to this location with full health

Possibly one of the best ultimates in the game. Run It Back as you channel it for a moment, placing a marker down for where you are going to return in a few seconds. If it times out, you will respawn if you die. Basically, it gives you an extra life. It allows you to run into enemies without the risk of dying. Keep in mind that the enemy team will hear you announce it and because it marks on the ground where you are going to go with a sort of “flame symbol.” It’s possible for your opponents to camp out where you are going to respawn. And there is a channel that you have to fully animates before you can even pull your gun back up again. You are vulnerable after you use it, so make sure to use it from safety then run it.
